We started out talking about how being righteous can mean that your children don’t have to beg for bread. This post is a followup to that post because we can “speak” ourselves into poverty . . . and into our children not having bread.
The Bible teaches us that we can have what we say. Proverbs 18:21 teaches us that the power of life and death are in the tongue. Christians can be some of the first ones to cry “poor mouth”. Have you heard christians say that they are poor and that they don’t have enough of what they need to live? It is really a blessing that God’s mercy is new every morning. I’m sure this kind of talk grieves Him and He is not happy about us not knowing and understanding the provision that He has made for us. Does it make sense for christians, those who are the sons and daughters of God, to cry and say that they are poor when our daddy God is rich and has provided for us? If you are saved, God has made provision for you. It doesn’t do you or your kids any good for you to walk around talking about how poor you are. 2 Corinthians 2:8-9 teaches us that Jesus took on our poverty so that we could become rich. The bottom line here is that yes, your children will go hungry if you choose for it to be that way . . . even if you are a christian. Walk in the provision that God has made for you.
