Your children won’t go hungry… if you are righteous. Part 2

We started out talking about how being righteous can mean that your children don’t have to beg for bread. This post is a followup to that post because we can “speak” ourselves into poverty . . . and into our children not having bread.

The Bible teaches us that we can have what we say. Proverbs 18:21 teaches us that the power of life and death are in the tongue. Christians can be some of the first ones to cry “poor mouth”. Have you heard christians say that they are poor and that they don’t have enough of what they need to live?  It is really a blessing that God’s mercy is new every morning. I’m sure this kind of talk grieves Him and He is not happy about us not knowing and understanding the provision that He has made for us. Does it make sense for christians, those who are the sons and daughters of God, to cry and say that they are poor when our daddy God is rich and has provided for us? If you are saved, God has made provision for you. It doesn’t do you or your kids any good for you to walk around talking about how poor you are. 2 Corinthians 2:8-9 teaches us that Jesus took on our poverty so that we could become rich. The bottom line here is that yes, your children will go hungry if you choose for it to be that way . . . even if you are a christian. Walk in the provision that God has made for you. Your children won’t go hungry… if you are righteous. Part 1

This is the first post for the parenting section of Sow the Word. Let’s begin here talking about food. IDon’t kids always want to eat? Have you ever been in a situation where you felt like you wouldn’t have enough food to provide for your family; where you felt like you had to beg food to feed your children? Let’s talk about some scripture that you can stand on.

Psalm 37:25 teaches us that if we want our children to always have food to eat and never have to beg for it . . . we have to be righteous parents. This is a Word that we can stand on. Now the question that you may have, is how do I become righteous? What is righteousness? Righteous is being in right standing with God. Righteousness is not something that you can work for.  It is something that you have to receive, and you receive it by receiving Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 5:21

For he has made him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

We were born into sin because Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. Jesus is the second Adam in that He took our sin on Himself and traded us sin for righteousness. So, if you receive Jesus, then you are righteous. That means you are back in right standing with God, the same position that Adam had in God before he and Eve sinned. Receiving Jesus is easy as Romans 10:9-10 shows you how to become righteous. All you have to do is confess and believe on Jesus. Pay close attention to the second part of this verse, because there is no righteousness apart from Jesus. There is self righteousness, but it is dirty because we are dirty apart from Christ.

Now, let’s say that you are righteous, and if you just received righteousness, congratulations and welcome to the family of God . . . you can now stand on this scripture that the children of the righteous will never go hungry. That means your children will always have food. So when things seem rough, and you don’t know where the food is going to come from . . . bring God in remembrance of His Word and confess with boldness that He promised that your children will not have to beg for bread. They will eat and grow strong and fulfill their purpose in the Lord.  Reply to this post or send us an email at sow-the-word@hotmail.com
