Jesus is the greatest mentor and His disciples are His mentees. Because of God’s plan to open the way for Gentiles to come into the Kingdom of God, all can receive the blessings of Jesus and all can have a personal relationship with God. That means that you can be both mentee and mentor according to Kingdom principles. You should be mentoring someone according to the Word of God and you should be receiving mentorship from someone sharing with you God’s Word and principles for living. This type of mentee/mentor interaction is what I describe as Kingdom Mentorship.
Kingdom mentorship is Christ centered, Word based and freeing. The qualification for mentorship by Jesus is abiding in His Word. Take a look at John 8:31-36. Abiding in His Word gives access to the truth (Jesus) and that truth (Jesus) is freeing. In Christ you are freed from the power of sin and death, poverty and sickness. That means sickness, poverty and spiritual death have no legal claim over your life. You should think about that for a moment. It’s not God’s will for us to be sick and live in lack and through the blood of Jesus, the finished work that He wrought on the cross,we have been delivered. It’s up to you to walk in that deliverance and experience the Kingdom authority and Kingdom mentorship that flows from the throne of God. We are being constantly transformed into the image of Christ and His mentorship turns us into mentors. (Luke 6:40)
