Preach Christ, not politics

In today’s political climate it is easy for Christians to lose track of our purpose in the earth. The world system can dictate to you what you should be thinking about and what you should do. I am starting a series of messages on the radio ministry titled, “Preach Christ, not politics”. Join me on Wednesdays at noon EST on heaven983.com. These messages will also be posted on the website stwteachingministry.com

In these lessons I will talk about how Jesus dealt with the political parties of His day and how He should be our example as to how we should deal with them today. The foundational texts for these lessons are Acts 8:5-8 and 14-16 and I Timothy 1:1-4.

God instructed me to teach this lesson several months ago but did not release me to teach it until well after the Presidential election. His words to me were that if you teach it during the election, people will want to know who to vote for. Specifically He said that people want to know what the Bible says about who to vote for but they don’t want a relationship with Me. They don’t want to know Me. They just want a solution. Then He reminded me of the scripture that talks about folks wanting to see and experience the miracles that He did, but they didn’t want to hear the Word of God or desire a relationship with Him.

This next series of lessons may be difficult for you to hear. You may or may not disagree with the content, but I ask that you study the scriptures for yourself to determine if these things are so. I am using as a definition for the word politics the activities associated with the governance of a country, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power. That is a general dictionary definition. Troubling in this definition is the latter part, “hoping to achieve power”. Jesus said in Matthew 28:18 that ALL power has been given to Him in heaven and earth. That means that if you are a born again believer, you have that same power at work in you. You are part of the Body of Christ. If you have that power in you should you be preaching a political message for a certain group to be in power? Would Jesus support or campaign for a political group?  What bumper sticker would Christ put on His donkey to support as He rode it down the streets of Jerusalem. Maybe the Herodians or the Pharisees? Maybe the Zealots?

Join me as I dig into the Word concerning this. Learn that you should spend less time on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News discussing the news day in and day out and more time in the Word of God sharing the Gospel. Get help to disable the apps and popups that bring you news continually and pray and fast at the leading of the Holy Spirit so that you can get clarity from God concerning your life and particularly the political landscape. God is still God no matter who is in the white house or the senate. Don’t give them more power than almighty God, your creator, the one who loves you and gave His life for your salvation. I look forward to this journey in the Word with you and I pray that God blesses you abundantly. Join me on Wednesdays at noon!
