The Word of God is what brings forth growth in God

I have been talking about “The Excellency of Knowing Christ” on the Radio Ministry for most of this month. I talked about how we have to stretch forward to what God has for us and not allow our past to hinder us from walking in victory into our present. I also made clear that what gives us successes in this new year is our relationship with God. How well do you know Him? Are you growing in God day by day? Are you spending time in the Scriptures and growing thereby. God has growth planned for you and that growth is by His Word.

I Peter 2:2 teaches us that we should crave the pure milk of the Word so that we can grow thereby. What that means is that God expects growth and He expects us to have a strong desire to grow up and mature in Him and His Word. That is why He gave the church ministry gifts that He discusses in Ephesians 4:11-13.  We have almost completed the first month of a new year. When you look back over the month, do you see where you have grown in God? Are there scriptures that you have more light from now than you did at the end of 2015? Do you have clearer vision of the plan for your life for 2016?

If you are fuzzy about the answers to these questions and you are caught up in the day-to-day – Sunday to Sunday tradition of going to church with no expectation and little to know evidence of progress in your God-given purpose, you need more of Him.

I’m not talking about more church work or more traditional services. I am talking about more of the Word of God. God’s Word is filled with faith and faith comes by hearing the Word of God. You need to be hearing – meditating and studying the Scriptures!

Your growth comes directly from the Scriptures. Little time in the scriptures, little growth – Lots of time in the Scriptures, lots of growth!
