We have been talking about vision for the last several weeks now. Do you have the vision from God concerning your family and who it is you are in Christ Jesus? This post is about your physical body and what you are doing to take care of it. See, once you get the revelation of who Jesus is, that revelation impacts how you treat yourself.
Matthew 16:15-17 King James Version (KJV)
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
In order for you to know who Jesus is, it has to be revealed to you by God. In other words there has to be a desire to know Him . . . this is not a desire to follow religious tradition. This is a desire to know Him and the power of His resurrection. This is not a desire to attend church every Sunday and buy some nice suits and gain some religious ideas . . . this is a desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life and to live you life honoring Him, and serving others.
Knowing Him means that you are now open to receive the vision that He has for you. You recognize and appreciate that He put something in you and you don’t want to do anything that will jeopardize what He put in you by what you expose yourself to . . . in other words you are mindful about what you see on TV, what you hear on the radio, what internet sites you frequent and even what things you eat. This is so important because what you associate with, you will become. We learn from Amos 3:3 that two can’t walk together unless they agree. When you partake of things that are not of God, you will become like those things . . . let me make it plain, if you are around folks who are always cussing and talking bad about women, you will find yourself cussing and talking about women. If you hang around folks who don’t exercise, have unhealthy eating habits, drink and smoke, you are at risk of doing those things as well.
John 6:53-56 teaches us that Jesus wants us to feed on Him. That means that we should not be led by food . . . buffets are dangerous! Anytime you go somewhere where gluttony is promoted you run the risk of eating more than you should. You should eat until you are not hungry, not until you are full. God will tell you how much you should eat. This is important because when you allow your flesh to eat and indulge in the way that it wants to, you can allow the flesh to override the leading of the Holy Spirit. In other words, the Holy Spirit is not going to force you to eat right or do right. The Spirit of God will tell you, but it is up to you to be obedient.
You need to be healthy in order to do the work that God called you to do. God will show you what to eat, how much to eat and how to avoid things that you should not eat. Go with God. Feed you vision as instructed by God.
