We have been teaching on vision for the last several weeks and will be continuing until the end of the year. We made points from Jeremiah 29:11, Philippians 1:6 and Proverbs 29:18 to let you know that there is a vision from God.
Jeremiah 29:11 King James Version (KJV)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Here we see that God has thoughts. That amazes me and should amaze you too. God has good thoughts that He thinks toward you – thoughts of peace and not evil. That should let you know that if you are not at peace, that definitely couldn’t be God. He is not trying to confuse or upset you. Jesus is the prince of peace so if you don’t have Jesus, then you CAN’T have peace. He is not defining you according to the world’s standards. He is defining you according to the world’s needs as He needs you to deliver your gift to the world for the Kingdom of God. He is defining you according to who He purposed you to be before the foundation of the world.
Philippians 1:6 King James Version (KJV)
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Again we see here in Philippians that what God has for you is good. Here we see that he already started a good work in you and He will perform that good work until Jesus comes back. God sees you as who He called you to be – right now! Wether you have decided to use the gifting that He has given you or if you have decided to ignore the vision for your life and the life of your family. If you are ignoring the vision, you are ignoring God.
Proverbs 29:18 King James Version (KJV)
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
This verse teaches us that when we don’t get vision from God, we are doomed to live outside of the will of God and not reach the expected end that He has for us. The question is what are you doing with the vision that He has given to you? Are you ignoring it? Did you come up with your own vision or did you get it from someone else?
Here are some ways to tell if you are ignoring the vision. If your focus is on you and only you and what you can gain, win or get, then you are ignoring the vision. If your focus in on your job and just your job and you think that your job is the end all be all, then you are ignoring the vision . . . God is bigger than a job. He really wants you to begin to think about the work that He called you to do and not about your job. The work that I am referring to is the work that is mentioned in Philippians 1:6 mentioned above.
Life is not about you, your successes, your house, your cars and your kids. Life is about the Kingdom of God and apart from Jesus, you don’t have life. The Bible teaches in John 14:6 that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. That means that your life should be in Christ – which goes on to mean that the vision for your life is in Christ. If you are ignoring the vision for your life, you need to go to God and ask him what your purpose is on earth.
So may people get confused about this and want to define their purpose and being by their sexuality – am I straight or gay, was I born a boy but I really want to be a girl. Your identity is in Christ and He will tell you exactly who He has called you to be as long as you don’t ignore what He is trying to tell you.
