The Bible teaches us that the peace that God gives to us is not as the world gives. Philippians 4:7 says that this peace passes all understanding. That means that according to the world system, the peace of God cannot be understood. The reason for this is because it is spiritual. Peace is in Christ. Peace is in God – and God is a spirit, for those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. There has to be peace from God – true peace, pure peace, peace that will keep you heart and mind. The world’s peace is based on the world’s standards. The world thinks that guns in every home bring about peace – they think violence is the answer to violence. The truth of the matter is the word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit is the answer to all things and we need to work in the wisdom of God when we address these problems that seem to afflict people all over the world.
I want to bring out the fact here that the world gives. You need to understand that so that you will know how to frame what the world gives you. When the world gives you something it is going to be given to you to pump YOU up, to appeal to your flesh and to eventually take something from you. You have seen those free gimmicks on TV. You get a free prize when you purchase something. In other words if the world just gives you something it is usually cheap, small and insignificant, and they plan on getting from you in some way . . . be it later. They will be back and they will want your time, money or other resources.
God is a giver. He gave His son so that you might have life. (John 3:16) God gives good gifts, lasting gifts, gifts that are designed to build you up, encourage you, supply you and help you in fulfilling the call and purpose that He has for your life. Don’t fall for the counterfeit from the world. Seek God and allow Him to be your supplier. What He has for you is exceedingly abundantly above all that you can ever hope, think or imagine.
