In order for something to grow there has to be pressure put on it. Think about your muscles. Muscles get stronger when they lift weights. Lifting weight is a pressure or load that is applied to the muscle. It may not always feel good to have the weight in your hand . . . you may sweat, have fatigue and suffer with muscle spasms and pain, but the end result is a stronger and better functioning muscle. If you follow God’s direction concerning developing your muscles God will position you right where He wants you to be – mind, body and spirit.

I mentioned in the last post that we are to train up a child in the way that He should go. Part of that training involves pressing. Many times God has to press on us or allow things to press on us to get us to an uncomfortable spot and force us to move or make a decision. If we were comfortable all of the time some of us would never step out on faith into what God called us to do. I made the point that there has to be a DOING of God’s Word. You can’t just read it and hear it. At some point you have to DO and that is where the press can sometimes come. Doing the Word will put your children in situations when they will be pressed on and that pressing and correcting by the Word will cause them to grow in righteousness and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Understand that they can’t grow in righteousness apart from you training them in righteousness. That is why you must have your own relationship with God . . . to be able to train them in the way that they should go.
