Listen to the Sow the Word Teaching Ministry Radio Broadcast on Wednesdays on Heaven 98.3 or Heaven 1410AM. You can listen with the iheart internet app. Grow in God with Sow the Word where we are Sowing the Word into the heart of man.
This lesson is part of the offering from the ministry that accompanies the early reader that was written by wife titled “Goodnight Sister”. This early reader teaches primer words and talks about the weekend activities of two sisters and their furry dog Fargo. If you would like a copy of this book it is available as an ebook and as a paperback on Amazon.com. The audio version of this teaching is available from the ministry as well.
There are clear themes from the Word of God in this book and I want to share them with you. Big sister Dani spends time with little sister Dotti and serves as a role model for her. We also see stewardship as they care for their little dog Fargo. In this book we see the presence of a mother and father and we see that they have raised their girls to pray and have relationship with God.
Parents should be portrayed as men and women of God. Television portrays fathers as ignorant, inept and clueless as to how to “father” their children. Television defines for us the Modern family where you see the family defined outside of God’ definition for family. God’s plan is for the man to grow up in the house with his mother and father and then leave them to cleave unto his wife. (Ephesians 5:31) That teaches us that there is training in the home that is required for each parent to do.
We should look into the Word of God to see how we as parents should act and be portrayed. Proverbs 31:15 talks about the virtuous woman getting up before day to make provision for her household. We see mothers now half-dressed, with a hair bonnet covering some “undone” hair and kids in tow with their hair standing up on the top of their heads, uncombed. Then you see the sagging diaper and everything else that goes along with that picture. God will dress you. In Genesis He dressed Adam and Eve in the Garden, with Himself before the fall and with animal skins afterwards.
We see also sisterhood. Sisterhood is not defined by sororities and brotherhood by fraternities. Sisters and brothers are defined by the Word of God. The girls in the book being sisters eat the same food, share the same experiences, live in the same house, are parented by the same parents, etc. What this shows is a carrying through of Biblical principles forward through time into two households. Because the parents are in Christ, they teach their children the way, the truth and the life – they teach them why it is important to be in Christ. They teach them how to pray. The Bible teaches us in Luke 18:1 that we should always pray.
I hope I have shared enough with you to interest you in purchasing Goodnight Sister from Amazon.com for your young reader. I also invite you to listen to the live teaching on this coming Wednesday at noon eastern time. God bless.
