The mind is a place where thoughts come. Thoughts can really only come from two places. Ether the Spirit of God placed a thought and a prompting in you to get you to move for the Kingdom of God, or the enemy placed a thought and a prompting in you to get you to move for the Kingdom of darkness. The way that you will know the difference is by the thought. Thoughts from God will line up with the Word . . . ok, let me talk plain here. The thought won’t say anything different from what God’s Word (the Bible) says. If you get the thought to hate the person at work who took your parking space, it is clear that thought came from the devil. God teaches us to love our enemies. See Matthew 5:44, it tells you to not only love the person who stole that parking space, but to also pray for him or her. The devil is not going to tell you to pray for anyone.
Let’s talk more about thoughts. They come to those who are saved and those who are not, and dirty devilish thoughts come to those who are saved and those who are not. Yes, that’s correct. Every since you got saved, every thought that you had wasnt a pure and holy one. If you say different, you are incorrect because the Bible teaches in Romans 12:2 that your transformation comes from the renewing of your mind. The renewing of your mind comes after salvation but you can’t be transformed to be like Christ until you start to think and act like Christ. You have to be a doer of the Word. See James 1:22 here, hearers of the Word only deceive themselves . . . you have to hear it so faith will come, then you do (work) it to get the results it promises. . . because faith without works is dead. (James 2:17)
So what do you do with those thoughts that are not of God. 2 Corinthians 10:5 gives us clear instruction here. Cast those thoughts down and bring them into the obedience of Christ. Sometimes you have to talk to yourself, or change the channel if there is some sexual immorality going on, get rid of some of them unsaved do nothing friends you have or just leave the situation . . . GET AWAY! Your flesh will tell you that you can handle it, but you can’t.
Now, let’s turn our attention to the unsaved person. That might be you. Let’s look at Isaiah 55 below.
Isaiah 55:6-7 “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
The instructions in this verse are clear. The unrighteous man is to forsake his thoughts . . . that lets you know that an unrighteous man is unable to have thoughts that are pure and holy and Godly. Remember there is no righteousness apart from Christ. The author goes on to say in that verse of scripture that that man should go to the Lord . . . seek God’s mercy and grace, because through God’s ability, you can have the ability to overcome all thoughts of the enemy. I hope this post helps somebody. Your mind may be taking you places that you really don’t want to go and you think that you can’t control it. Well, you can with Christ.
