Don’t call it love when it’s not

The world system has really cheapened the meaning of the word love. The Bible teaches that God is love. The God kind of love is love that is unconditional. That means that it is not based on any requirements. Romans 8:38-39 teach us that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God.  What a blessing here! This means that no matter what people do, God will continue to love them. You can think about people who through history murdered, stolen, committed adultery, fornicated . . . done all sorts of things outside of His will . . . but at the end of the day, God still loves the person . . . He just hates the sin.

The problem is that we use the word love for anything now . . . and I’m not talking about the love between siblings . . . I’m talking about loving things like movies, cars, food, songs, etc. We shouldn’t be so loose with our use of the word love. When you use the word love, mean it the way that God means it. Don’t decrease the value of the word love. Don’t say that you love him or her and not mean the God kind of love. Look at 1st Corinthians 13 for the actions of love. If you want to model love, you have to model God. Love in your relationships. Let it be unconditional.
